Artist Statement:
This series of paintings explores the natural and built environment around the Ganden Sumtseling Monastery near Shangri-la. I am interested in evoking the experience of place during heightened emotional states such as times of awe, transformation and epiphany. The most mundane images can trigger memory connections, while the vast and unfamiliar trigger a sense of awe and growth. Each painting is a memory pixel, but it is in collaboration with the viewer that the narrative is drafted.
About the Artist:
LL Adam is a multi-disciplinary artist living and working in Victoria BC, on traditional territories of the Lək̓ʷəŋən speaking peoples. She works in visual and performing arts, motion photography and the written word using place and memory to explore themes of transformation and the human condition.
