Biography:
Born in China in 1983, Fenghua is a self-taught artist whose practice emerged from a spiritual awakening in 2006. A graduate of Shandong University’s Business School, she developed an intuitive approach to painting outside formal art education. Her large-scale oil paintings have been exhibited in Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Canada. In 2019, she relocated to Victoria, British Columbia.

The Wilderness as a Temple
Motherhood, life between languages, and the vast Canadian landscape have shaped Fenghua’s experience as a nomad. Through organic farming, vegetarian living, and daily spiritual practice, she has come to regard the wilderness as a temple — a place of quiet encounter between body, mind, and the natural world.

Art, Healing & Everyday Daoism
Fenghua’s practice extends beyond the studio, bringing art, healing, and everyday life into close relation. Following a residency at the Beijing Four Seasons Hotel (2016–2018), she collaborated with VAC and fellow artists on a pop-up store at the Bay Centre in Victoria (January–February 2026). In 2026, she undertook a residency at the Jingyin International Centre in Beijing, exploring sound healing and art.
