Artist Statement:
These portraits were painted in 2020- 2021. I chose to focus on the youth in our city who are making their mark in advocating and creating in areas of the environment, social needs, and the arts. I painted 28 in all. I felt very grateful to spend time with each of these dedicated, creative, open minded, optimistic, and caring youth.

They are part of a fund-raising project for Our Place. Proceeds of sales go to Our Place. For a price list of works exhibited, please see the library desk or contact the artist at elfridaschragen@shaw.ca

About the Artist:
Elfrida is a local Victoria artist, known for her portraits produced for fund raising for the “Our Place”, an establishment for the disenfranchised and homeless Victoria population. She is also known for her ‘plein air’ works, capturing the moment in the country and the city.

Elfrida attended McGill University in Montreal, earning a degree in general arts. Ultimately, Elfrida moved to Victoria, British Columbia to work with children in various facilities as both a teacher and a social worker, at the same time continuing her education in bioenergetics, Rogerian therapy, and Bodynamics.

Her works hang in the UK, USA, Finland, Canada, and Europe.
