About the Artist and Work:
Sarah Ksionzyk is a visual artist based in Victoria, BC, whose multidisciplinary practice celebrates diversity, equality, as well as the beauty of individuality in both people and animals. Working in a range of mediums such as oil pastel, acrylic, watercolor, pen, marker, charcoal, and graphite, Ksionzyk’s work is grounded in realism. Ksionzyk moves seamlessly between detailed realism, animation-inspired pieces and occasional abstraction. Her work expresses emotion, movement, and narrative across a range of compositions.
Ksionzyk’s influences include, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Margaret Keane, Disney animation and the visual storytelling of social movements. Ksionzyk’s art reflects a deep appreciation for connection, acceptance, and the shared vitality present in all living beings.
Ksionzyk has exhibited at the Moss Street Paint-In, contributed to the Garden City Arts Project showcased at the Royal BC Museum, participated in the Arts Alive initiative painting a public piano, and taken part in numerous group exhibitions throughout the Greater Victoria arts community.
