GVPL Saanich Centennial Branch
3110 Tillicum Rd, Victoria, BC

About the Artist:
My name is Kirby Delaney, and I am an amateur acrylic painter from Victoria, living in the Lekwungen territories of the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations.

Artist Statement:
These works are about celebrating the beauty of our island coastal environment and taking time to notice the small details and everyday wonder of the meadows and forests. I’m heavily inspired by the native plants and Garry oak meadows that typify the South Vancouver Island region. Through my art, I hope to capture the essence of these elements and share my love for them. Through bright colours and maximalism, I aim to create an eye-spy of native plants that ignites a sense of curiosity and appreciation for our natural world, and raises awareness of our rare and endangered meadows. I hope you join me on a journey of celebrating nature and the land through art.
